About Us

We are tearing down the ivory towers that exist solely to restrict access to justice for millions throughout the world.

...From Government Attorney
A natural agent for change, leading immigration attorney Brad Banias has been on a mission to reshape the legal landscape since getting his start in the federal court system. Initially hoping to make change from within the government, he realized he could do more good from the outside.

... To Disillusioned Leader
Entering private practice, he found great success advocating on behalf of his clients. And he was winning, a lot. But was quickly disheartened by the prevalent practices within the legal industry, where victories were celebrated without true advocacy and lasting change. Too many lawyers were in it for themselves instead of for their clients' interests.

...To Legal Advocate
The tipping point came when he encountered an attorney boasting about settling cases with minimal effort, leaving clients shortchanged and underserved. In that moment, Brad realized what needed to be done. What he had to do. He saw the opportunity to provide legal assistance to a broader audience while changing the system itself. By empowering individuals to navigate their legal challenges independently, Brad knew we could truly, deeply democratize access to justice.

...Pro Se Pro is born

Fellow visionaries Andrew Steinmeyer and John Moye saw the potential and brought the technology expertise to make it happen. And just like that, Pro Se Pro was formed with the dual mission to:
(1) Extend legal support to those who might otherwise be excluded from the system, ensuring that justice was not a privilege but a right.
AND
(2) Catalyze grassroots efforts aimed at streamlining processing procedures within the USCIS, enhancing efficiency and transparency for all.

And, it has been working! In less than a year, Pro Se Pro has become a beacon of hope for thousands, helping over 800 families litigate for themselves. Systemic change is happening. The legal revolution is here. And it's being led by pro se litigants.

Join us in our mission to redefine the boundaries of legal assistance and pave the way for a more equitable and accessible legal system.

Our Mission

With Pro Se Pro, we’re on a mission to empower the individual to file suit against the federal government for cases that do not need or require representation.  We’re a community dedicated to improving the quality of life of immigrant individuals, one case at a time.

Meet our Founders

Brad Banias

Brad discovered his passion for federal court immigration litigation during his first federal clerkship. In an effort to affect change from inside the government, Brad worked as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Immigration Litigation District Court Section.

Brad then returned to Charleston, South Carolina, and entered private practice. He was the managing partner at Wasden Banias, LLC, where he designed and executed litigation that changed the face of employment based immigration. Today he continues to focus on Federal Court immigration litigation, challenging unreasonable delays, arbitrary denials, unlawful removal orders, and illegal detention.

He also teaches Immigration Law and Policy, Administrative Law, and Federal Courts and Immigration at the Charleston School of Law. Brad lives in Charleston, South Carolina.
